Here’s a great pseudo psychic trick that is based on Neuro Linguistic Programming, or NLP. It’s easy to learn and will give you lots of instant credibility if you are planning on doing some up close magic work. It’s a great way to build quick rapport with your audience, which is always a good thing.

Any conjurer knows that sincerity is very essential when doing a chain of magic tricks. One fault and you’re cover is blown, and they’ll be watching you with a much closer eye. When folks see a magic act, mainly if they’d paid money, they want to be dazzled and entertained. They don’t want to have to imagine that you are magic. They want to believe you are magic.

A great way to set yourself up as an influence in their minds is through some apparently splendid extrasensory mind reading. But through some basic eye accessing cues, you can frequently tell what kinds of thoughts they are wondering. When you match up your “patter” with the kinds of thoughts they are thinking, your integrity, and their pleasure, will skyrocket.

Here are the common rules. When people look up, either up and to the right, or up and to the left, they are usually thinking visually. They are accurately seeing movies in their minds. When individuals are looking side to side, they are usually thinking of sounds, either voices, songs, or music. When folks look down, either down and to the right, or down and to the left, they are usually thinking of “feeling” thoughts.

A great way to integrate this into your act is to pick a special person, and then develop a short chat with them. As you pay attention to their eyes, and gain an understanding into their thoughts, you can undoubtedly match your words to their type of thinking. Undoubtedly put, chat in picture words (look, see, notice, etc.) when they are looking up, and talk in sound words (hear, listen, music, etc.) when they are looking side to side. People infrequently think in terms of feelings when they are out watching a show. It is more of a visual and auditory experience.

While these guidelines are very simple, and approximate, they will go a great deal in helping you gain a gigantic amount of connection in a comparatively brief amount of time with any audience, or even with a one on one encounter when you are doing street magic. These skills can even be used in a non-magic setting, like on a date or inside a relationship, but I’ll leave that up to you.
