Great Yarmouth Is An English Seaside Jewel
For a gorgeous vacation at the seashore, you could not ask for a better getaway than Great Yarmouth. With a coastline that alters between sandy beaches to rocky cliffs, the views are as varied as they are beautiful. It has been a popular seaside resort since as early as 1760.
If history is of special interest to you, you will not be disappointed. The Romans came to the first century and you can see the remains of a Roman fort nearby town. While the ruins themselves are impressive, the surrounding vistas are stunning as well. There are many other examples of historical buildings from later on in history in the town center itself, including the remains of a 13th century friary and examples of Elizabethan and Victorian buildings.
Activities available in Great Yarmouth are varied making it a perfect spot for vacationing as a family. You can find something to interest everyone in your group. If beaches are not what you fancy, there are museums, gardens, theme parks and crazy golf. There are attractions that are made especially for young children as well. If you are a racing fan, there are both horses and greyhounds to watch. You will find plenty to do inside if the weather does not make outside activities advisable.
For wildlife lovers, you have lots of possibilities as well. There are the seals by the waterfront and the marine wildlife center. Great Yarmouth also contains a reptilarium and wild animal parks nearby, one of which caters to Asian animals in particular.
As with any city, there are an abundance of restaurants and pubs to choose from as well. The center of town has many different types of stores including a mall as well as smaller more boutique type of shops. It is the perfect place to visit if you want to have a day in a seaside atmosphere but have some shopping to do.
Adults will be happy to know that many nighttime activities are available here. Besides the restaurants and bars, you will find many discos and nightclubs for dancing. If you want something a bit different, you can even find three casinos here.
