An Island Get-Away For Your Little Boy’s Bedroom

First, create an aura of a beach life. Paint the walls with beach colors. The bottom of the walls in tan or beige for a sand impression and over it in blue-green for the ocean. Sponge in white paint to create waves. If you’re an artist, make the walls a work of art by painting a beach scene on one area of the wall.

For an ultimate fisherman theme, buy your child his very own boat! Visit thrift stores or specialty shops and you’ll likely find one. A flat bottom for the boat is preferred so you’ll have half the work done for you. Otherwise, make a frame that will keep the boat in an upright position against the wall. A six feet long boat will work nicely enough so that a twin bed can fit in with extra space to spare as storage. You may have eaten an ample floor size but your child’s stuff will still have storage. The seats of the boat will be turned into the bed. Take them out, put plywood in the bottom and put in a mattress complete with the beddings. There! Your little fisherman has a boat for a bed. How fun is that!
Don’t miss out on the floor. If there’s one decor that integrates all the furnishings together, it’s the area rug. Choose a large rug to cover the remaining space, so no need for carpeting. Go for a rug with the same color scheme as the wall. You can alternate this area rug with one designed with a beach or underwater art. Your little one will love his new bedroom!
